We currently serve select cities and regions across Europe, with availability expanding based on sitter coverage and demand. Major hubs include: Split, Zadar, Dubrovnik, Zagreb, Rome, and Florence.

Are sitters employees of Safe Sitters Europe?

No. Sitters are independent caregivers who set their own rates and availability. Safe Sitters Europe facilitates matching and secure booking.

How are sitters vetted?

Sitters complete an application, identity verification, experience review, reference checks when available, and a personal screening by our team.

Do you run background checks?

Background check requirements vary by country. Where available, we verify documentation and conduct screening aligned with local laws and standards.

Can I book a sitter for one night or short-term care?

Yes. Families can book sitters for single evenings, events, short stays, or recurring care depending on sitter availability.

How do payments work?

Families pay securely online by credit or debit card. Sitters are paid directly for their services after the booking.

Do you control sitter rates?

No. Sitters set their own hourly rates, which are clearly displayed before you book.

Is there a membership fee?

Families can purchase an annual membership that gives access to discounted bookings. For €49/year you will receive a discounted booking fee of €10/booking. Normally a one-time booking fee is €15.

What if something comes up and I need to cancel?

Our booking fees are non-refundable. If the booking is cancelled with less than 24 hours notice then you are required to pay the sitters for two hours time. This amount will be automatically charged to your CC.

Can I speak with someone if I have questions?

Yes. Our team is available to support families with bookings, sitter communication, and general questions.

Is Safe Sitters Europe for tourists or expats?

Both. We support traveling families, expats, digital nomads, and local residents seeking reliable childcare.

Do sitters provide transportation or overnights?

Some do. Availability for driving, overnights, or special requests is sitter-specific and listed in their profile.
